となりのトトロ (イメージ・ソング集)

Joe Hisaishi crafted these image songs before the film’s final score was even completed, allowing him to explore the emotional core of the characters through melody. These tracks serve as a whimsical blueprint for the world of Totoro, capturing the innocence and wonder of childhood in every note.

Released in 1987, this collection reflects the lush, synth-inflected pop production typical of the era’s Japanese soundtrack scene. It blends traditional kayōkyoku sensibilities with a playful, orchestral arrangement that feels both nostalgic and timeless.
