Album story
DJ International Records changed the trajectory of dance music forever with this 1986 compilation. It serves as the definitive document of the raw, machine-driven energy that defined the birth of house music in Chicago clubs.
These tracks rely on the hypnotic pulse of the Roland TR-808 and TR-909 drum machines, paired with soulful, repetitive vocal hooks. The collection captures a pivotal moment when local producers moved away from disco toward the stark, rhythmic minimalism that would eventually conquer global dance floors.
