_Ohms

Ohms brings Deftones' heavy guitar sound and more suspended atmosphere into close contact. “Genesis” begins with an electronic opening before the band enters at full weight, establishing the contrast that runs through the record.

Chino Moreno's voice shifts between force and distance, while the rhythm section keeps the changing textures connected. “The Spell of Mathematics” gives that balance a particularly spacious setting. The closing title track arrives with a clearer, more direct guitar figure, ending the album with a different kind of lift without abandoning the weight of what came before.
