As We Speak

Smooth jazz legend David Sanborn hit a creative stride here, blending his signature biting alto saxophone tone with tight, danceable grooves. It features a stellar cast of session players, including bassist Marcus Miller, who helped craft the record's polished, infectious energy.

Released in 1982, this project perfectly captures the slick, high-fidelity production style that defined the early eighties fusion scene. It balances radio-friendly melodies with sophisticated jazz sensibilities, making it a quintessential listen for anyone who appreciates the intersection of funk and instrumental pop.
