MF DOOM X Tatsuro Yamashita / Westside Doom

Daupe! Records masterfully stitches together the gritty, underground aesthetic of Westside Gunn and MF DOOM with the polished, sun-drenched city pop sensibilities of Tatsuro Yamashita. This unofficial release creates a surreal sonic landscape where boom-bap grime meets the smooth, sophisticated melodies of Japanese pop royalty.

The production thrives on the contrast between raw, street-level lyricism and the lush, jazzy arrangements that defined the 1980s Japanese music scene. It is a fascinating artifact of the vinyl bootleg culture that highlights how disparate genres can collide to form an unexpectedly cohesive and atmospheric listening experience.
