Album story
Expectations were impossibly high following the global success of the band's first two records, leading to a recording process defined by excess and massive, layered soundscapes. It remains a fascinating snapshot of a group at the absolute peak of their fame, pushing the limits of their signature wall-of-sound production.
Recorded during the height of the Britpop era, the tracks are sprawling, guitar-heavy anthems that lean into a grander, more psychedelic aesthetic. The production is notoriously dense, reflecting the band's desire to create the biggest rock record of the decade.
