Wild Is The Wind

Deeply personal and haunting, this collection features a definitive version of the title track that showcases an unparalleled command of emotional tension. It remains a masterclass in vocal delivery, moving seamlessly from the fierce social commentary of "Four Women" to the fragile, aching beauty of "Lilac Wine."

Recorded during a prolific mid-sixties period for Philips, the album captures a sophisticated blend of jazz, folk, and soul. The production strips away unnecessary artifice, leaving space for a singular voice to command the room with nothing more than a piano and a profound sense of longing.
