Ibio-Ibio

Camilla George draws deeply from her Nigerian heritage, weaving the history and cosmology of the Ibibio people into a vibrant jazz narrative. Each track serves as a sonic chapter, tracing stories from the creation of the world to the complex legacy of the Arochokwu slave route.

This record pulses with a contemporary energy that feels both expansive and deeply personal. It captures a modern London jazz scene that is increasingly comfortable blending intricate improvisation with the rhythmic traditions of the African diaspora.
