Album story
Legend has it the band lived in a communal house for months, rehearsing these jagged, complex compositions until they could play them perfectly in their sleep. It remains one of the most challenging and polarizing listening experiences in rock history, often cited for its complete disregard for traditional melody and rhythm.
Produced by Frank Zappa for his Straight Records label, the record captures a raw, unhinged energy that defies easy categorization. The chaotic interplay of slide guitar, free-jazz saxophones, and surrealist poetry creates a sonic landscape that feels like a fever dream of the late sixties blues scene.
