Cigarettes After Sex

Greg Gonzalez recorded these songs in a stairwell at a four-story building in Manhattan, which explains the haunting, cavernous natural reverb that defines the record. It feels like a late-night confession whispered directly into your ear, turning intimate longing into a cinematic experience.

The production leans heavily into a minimalist, slowcore aesthetic that prioritizes atmosphere over complexity. By stripping away everything but the essential guitar melodies and breathy vocals, the band creates a timeless, dreamlike soundscape that feels completely detached from the frantic pace of the modern world.
