Album story

Fans often call this the 'Security' album to distinguish it from his other self-titled releases. It marks a major turning point where Gabriel fully embraced the Fairlight CMI sampler, weaving complex, rhythmic textures into his songwriting.

David Lord co-produced the record, helping to craft a dense, atmospheric sound that feels both tribal and futuristic. The heavy reliance on percussion and unconventional studio techniques defined the avant-pop aesthetic of the early eighties.
