Album story

Rick Rubin stripped away the punk speed of the Misfits to reveal a dark, swampy obsession with blues-based heavy metal. This record turned Glenn Danzig into a brooding icon, centering on a minimalist, menacing sound that feels like a midnight ritual.

Released on the Def American label, the production favors raw, cavernous space over technical flash. It captures a specific 1990s tension where classic rock swagger met a grim, occult-inspired aesthetic.
