Waltz For Debby

These recordings were captured during a single afternoon at the Village Vanguard in 1961, documenting the final performances of bassist Scott LaFaro before his untimely death. The interplay between Evans, LaFaro, and drummer Paul Motian remains a definitive masterclass in telepathic trio communication.

Produced by Orrin Keepnews for Riverside Records, the album captures the intimate, bustling atmosphere of a legendary jazz club. The delicate balance of modal improvisation and lyrical standards creates a timeless, conversational sound that feels just as present today as it did over sixty years ago.
