The Third Eye

Hidden gems from the mid-sixties often get lost in the shuffle, but this 45 remains a quintessential artifact of the era's garage rock experimentation. It captures a specific, lysergic tension that feels both raw and surprisingly ahead of its time.

Released on the Miramar label, the record carries that distinct, gritty production quality typical of regional US studios in 1966. You can hear the urgency in the guitar work, perfectly embodying the transition from traditional beat music into the more psychedelic sounds that were just beginning to take hold.
