Land Of The Lost

San Diego producer Greyboy helped define the West Coast acid jazz movement with this 1995 debut. It serves as a masterclass in crate-digging, seamlessly blending dusty jazz samples with the crisp, head-nodding sensibilities of boom-bap hip-hop.

These tracks capture the laid-back, sun-drenched atmosphere of mid-nineties downtempo culture. The production relies on organic instrumentation and tight loops, creating a sophisticated instrumental soundscape that feels just as comfortable in a smoky lounge as it does on a boombox.
