That Was The Year That Was

Tom Lehrer managed to turn the anxieties of the mid-sixties into a masterclass of biting, piano-driven satire. His ability to find humor in topics as heavy as nuclear proliferation and the Vatican is a testament to his sharp, academic wit.

Recorded live at The Hungry i in San Francisco, the album captures the intimate, cabaret-style energy that defined his performances. The stripped-back production keeps the focus entirely on his clever lyrics and rapid-fire delivery, perfectly reflecting the cynical spirit of the era.
