Black Sands

Simon Green hit a creative peak here by blending organic instrumentation with meticulous electronic production. The record feels like a cinematic journey, moving seamlessly from the haunting, string-laden opener to the intricate, pulsing rhythms that define his signature sound.

Released on Ninja Tune during the height of the downtempo revival, the album masterfully bridges the gap between jazz-inflected lounge and modern trip-hop. Its lush, layered textures capture a specific late-night atmosphere that remains a definitive benchmark for the genre.
