Discovery

Jeff Lynne famously dubbed this record 'Disco Very' as a playful nod to the band's shift away from their progressive rock roots. It remains their most unabashedly pop-oriented project, trading complex symphonic arrangements for tight, dance-floor-ready grooves.

Released at the tail end of the seventies, the album reflects the era's obsession with synthesizers and polished studio production. The lush layering of strings and vocoders creates a futuristic, shimmering soundscape that defines the transition into the new decade.
