Blue Lines

Bristol's underground scene birthed a masterpiece that effectively invented the trip-hop sound. It remains a masterclass in mood, blending soulful vocals with gritty, slowed-down breakbeats that feel just as haunting today as they did in 1991.

Production here relies on a dense, smoky atmosphere that draws heavily from funk, dub, and early hip-hop samples. The record captures the tension of post-Thatcher Britain, creating a cinematic listening experience that feels both deeply intimate and expansive.
