Tha Doggfather

Heavy expectations rested on this release as it arrived following the high-profile departure of Dr. Dre from Death Row Records. The project serves as a pivotal moment where the West Coast sound began to shift away from the G-funk blueprint that defined the label's early dominance.

Production duties were handled by a collective including Daz Dillinger and DJ Pooh, resulting in a leaner, more funk-driven aesthetic compared to previous efforts. It captures a transitional period in hip-hop history, balancing the grit of street narratives with the polished, party-ready bounce that kept the radio humming throughout the late nineties.
