Exit Planet Dust

Tom Rowlands and Ed Simons essentially invented the blueprint for big beat with this debut, turning the underground rave scene on its head. It remains a high-octane collision of hip-hop rhythms and distorted acid house that feels just as visceral today as it did in the mid-nineties.

Recorded on a shoestring budget, the production carries a raw, gritty energy that defines the era's transition from warehouse parties to mainstream festivals. The record captures a specific moment when electronic music stopped being just for the dancefloor and started demanding the full attention of your speakers.
