Album story
Sessions for this record famously involved a revolving door of jazz legends and experimental musicians, creating a sound that feels like a living, breathing organism. It functions as a dense, poetic autobiography that grapples with the pressures of fame and the weight of systemic history.
Production leans heavily into live instrumentation, blending frantic free jazz with the deep, melodic grooves of G-funk and neo-soul. The result is a sprawling, chaotic masterpiece that captures the tension of the mid-2010s through a lens of raw, unfiltered introspection.
